NOT-OD-17-066 updates and replaces the previous NIH, AHRQ, and NIOSH policy regarding post-submission materials for applications submitted for due dates on or after September 25, 2017. The new policy expands upon the previous guidance to now include citations of issued patents as allowable post-submission material. Please remember that post-submission materials are those submitted after submission of the grant application but prior to initial peer review. Post-submission material is not intended to correct errors or oversights discovered after submission of an application; rather, this material allows applicants the opportunity to respond to “unforeseen events.” OSP would like to stress that copies or citations of pre-prints do not qualify as unanticipated events and cannot be submitted as post-submission material. Post-submission material (other than citations) must be submitted as a PDF attachment. Upon receipt of this information, the SRO will upload accepted materials into the official electronic grant file maintained within eRA Commons.
