Issue: Inability to Log in to Commons

We have received reports of users having difficulty logging in to eRA Commons and ASSIST. Specifically, the system is notifying users that their password has expired. While NIH’s eRA password policy dictates that all users must update their passwords every 120 days, a recent security update forced a select population of users to change their passwords outside of the normal 120-day requirement.

Unfortunately, many VUMC users have also reported that they are unable to update their password via the eRA Commons system. OSP has determined that many users are inputting their VUMC email for the password reset process, even though their profiles still display the “” address. Please note that the email used for the password reset process must match the institutional email listed in the Commons profile. To update a Commons profile, please log in to the system and select the “Personal Profile” tab on the home screen. Next, select “Name and ID” from the left side of the screen and select “Edit.”

In the event that the above instructions do not work, please contact OSP, and we will manually update your profile and reset your password.
